Collins & Jewell Company Newsletter October 2019

Collins & Jewell Company Golf Tournament 2019

C&J employees braved the cold to play in this year’s company golf tournament at Elmridge Golf Course on October 11th. We had a great turn out, a lot of laughs and an overall great day! Thank you to all who participated and to those who put the event together for  another successful year of the company tournament!

NBC CT Segment

On Wednesday, October 9th, NBC CT’s Mike Hydeck came to Collins & Jewell Company to interview owners Brian Dudek, Christopher Jewell, and Pipeline graduate, Patrick Walton. They filmed the interviews to be aired during Sunday’s (10/13/19) segment of “Face the Facts”. The interviews centered around the large amount of work in this area due to the submarine contracts with the Navy and the high demand for skilled workers in manufacturing. The Manufacturing Pipeline, created by EWIB, is helping to find, train and place those workers. The Pipeline program is        expanding into local high schools and needs to keep expanding in order for manufacturing companies to find the talent to complete the jobs for the defense contractors in our area.

Training Accomplishment:

Congratulations to Noah Carr in our drafting department who completed the “Structural Detailer Training” through Dowco! This training consisted of 300 hours of instruction which includes contract paperwork, project  set-up, shop drawings, material lists and quality control, to name a few covered topics. Great job, Noah, on furthering your education to benefit yourself and the company!

Leffingwell House Scarecrows

C&J is represented again this year in the scarecrow garden at the Leffingwell House Museum for the month of October as part of their annual fundraiser to heat the museum for the winter!
